ISLAMABAD, June 24 (Xinhua) -- Eleven terrorists and two soldiers were killed during an intelligence-based operation in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military said on Tuesday.
The security forces conducted the operation in the South Waziristan district of the province on reported presence of terrorists, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan Army, said in a statement.
"During the conduct of the operation, own troops effectively engaged the terrorists' location," the ISPR said, adding that 11 terrorists were killed during the operation.
However, during the intense exchange of fire, two soldiers also lost their lives, said the ISPR.
Sanitization operation is being carried out to eliminate the presence of other terrorists from the area, it added.
The military said the security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe-out the menace of terrorism from the country. ■
