BEIJING, June 24 (Xinhua) -- Zhao Leji, China's top legislator, held talks with Thailand's National Assembly President and Speaker of the House of Representatives Wan Muhamad Noor Matha in Beijing on Tuesday.

Zhao, chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, said that China is willing to work with Thailand to carry forward their long-standing friendship, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and promote the construction of a China-Thailand community with a shared future.

China appreciates Thailand's adherence to the one-China principle and supports Thailand's pursuit of a development path that suits its national conditions, he said.

China is willing to align high-quality Belt and Road cooperation with Thailand's five key future industries, Zhao said. China also stands ready to accelerate the construction of key projects such as the China-Thailand Railway, and to deepen cooperation in emerging fields such as the high-tech sector, green development, artificial intelligence and the digital economy, he added.

He called on both sides to encourage closer people-to-people exchanges, hold activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, enhance cooperation in areas such as youth, education, media and tourism, and work together to crack down on cross-border crimes such as online gambling and telecom fraud.

Zhao stressed that the two sides should enhance exchange between their legislative bodies to provide a sound legal environment for practical cooperation, and that they should strengthen their coordination within mechanisms such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Asian Parliamentary Assembly.

Noting that Thailand adheres to the one-China principle, Wan Noor said the country is willing to strengthen its cooperation with China in fields such as trade, investment, infrastructure construction, culture, education and tourism, and stands ready to promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation to achieve common development and prosperity.

Thailand supports China's efforts to safeguard international fairness and justice, and to maintain world peace and stability, Wan Noor said, noting that the National Assembly of Thailand is willing to maintain close ties with China's NPC, and to deepen legislation exchange.
