ISLAMABAD, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday welcomed investment commitments totaling over 700 million U.S. dollars in the country's digital sector, describing them as a positive sign of confidence in Pakistan's economy.
Speaking at the Digital Foreign Direct Investment Forum 2025 in Islamabad, Sharif said the pledges made by both foreign and local investors reflect growing interest in Pakistan's digital transformation.
"This is a moment of pride," Sharif said, acknowledging multiple investors and institutions who announced their planned contributions.
The prime minister reaffirmed his government's commitment to facilitating investors through improved ease of doing business, enhanced digital infrastructure, and regulatory reforms aligned with global standards.
Sharif said digitalization remains a top priority for Pakistan's development agenda, stressing the importance of innovation, inclusion, and technology as engines of sustainable growth.
The forum was attended by government officials, foreign delegates, and industry stakeholders and focused on exploring investment opportunities across sectors such as IT services, fintech, e-commerce, and digital infrastructure. ■
